Artist Access

MTC has a history as a leader and supporter of new work and developing artists. We see our role in the community not just as a destination for great performance, but as a creative hub where artists are nurtured and developed, and new Australian writing is championed.

Through key initiatives such as the Cybec Electric play reading series, the First Peoples Young Artists Program, the evolving Women in Theatre Program, the MinterEllison Future Directors Initiative and Secondments, MTC strives to ensure a prosperous and diverse landscape for theatre in Australia.

  • First Stage

MTC and EWF are thrilled to continue the First Stage writers program, providing creative and professional development for five new voices in Australian theatre.

  • MinterEllison Future Directors Initiative

Supporting MTC’s commitment to fostering the professional development of Australia’s next mainstage directors.

  • Opportunities for writers

  • Secondments

MTC has a number of career development and mentoring programs for future theatre professionals.

  • Actors and Auditions

Information for actors and their agents about our casting and audition processes.

  • Show us your work

We love seeing new work from all artists. Invite us along to your production.

Melbourne Theatre Company acknowledges the Yalukit Willam Peoples of the Boon Wurrung, the First Peoples of Country on which Southbank Theatre and MTC HQ stand. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future.
