Drinks with Melbourne Gin Company

If you’re taking tips from Abigail’s Party's Beverly Moss, no 1970s cocktail party is complete without a classic gin & tonic.

In the lead up to our revival of the 1970s classic, Abigail’s Party, we asked some lifestyle experts to help us put together the Perfect 70s Party Guide. If you’re taking tips from Abigail’s Party’s Beverly Moss, no 1970s cocktail party is complete without a classic gin & tonic.

Beverly Would you like a little gin and tonic, Sue?
‘Cos me and Ang are drinking gin and tonic, actually.
Susan All right, thank you.
Beverly Ice and lemon?
Susan Yes please.

While traditionally garnished with a wedge of lime, a classic United Kingdom G&T favours lemons (or you can add both to create an ‘Evans’).

More locally, Melbourne Gin Company, served at Southbank Theatre, mix things up with a twist of grapefruit.

Either way, the recipe is incredibly straightforward – a perfect quick cocktail for your guests.

CLASSIC GIN & TONIC
featuring Melbourne Gin Company

4 ice cubes
60ml Melbourne Gin Company gin
120ml tonic water
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon or grapefruit juice
Garnish: Lemon Wedge or Grapefruit Zest

With the help of Melbourne Gin Company & Daylesford and Hepburn Mineral Springs, we’ll be serving a special Melbourne Gin & Tonic during the season of Abigail’s Party, available for $12 at the Southbank Theatre foyer bars.

Mike Leigh’s classic comedy Abigail’s Party plays at Southbank Theatre, The Sumner from 17 March.
