The Cybec Readings: The Rasputin Affair

Everything has been prepared to perfection. The wine is spiked, the cupcakes poisoned and the femme fatale waits in the wings. If all goes to plan – and how could it not? – Russia will be freed from the malignant influence of Rasputin, the Mad Monk, who has the Tsar and the Tsarina in his thrall. But, as the three aristocratic conspirators discover, even the best organised assassinations are apt to go awry.

The Cybec Readings are designed to road-test new plays to aid and enrich their progress. The readings also give audiences the chance to see fresh new works in their infancy and play a part in their development. This reading is one of three new plays to feature in this year’s Cybec Readings which will take place over three nights at Southbank Theatre, The Lawler from 27 to 29 September 2012.

The Rasputin Affair is an MTC commission. The Cybec Readings are proudly supported by The Cybec Foundation.
