COVID-19 continues to have a significant impact on the arts and education sectors and MTC Education is taking on the unique challenges of sharing the joy of theatre with our young people at this difficult time.
Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Virtual School Victoria, MTC Education is already leading the industry with online and remote activities and resources for schools. These include our virtual tour of MTC HQ, video workshops and interviews with MTC creatives as well as interactive show-related digital content on the MTC website for students.
We are now working to produce more online resources than ever before in response to demand from schools, the requests from Department of Education, and in collaboration with MTC NOW, the company’s brand new digital content platform. Our work to provide more digital content also includes adapting regional enrichment workshops with thanks to the Gailey Lazarus Foundation, teacher professional development and work experience programs for online delivery. We also have a virtual Southbank Theatre tour planned for release in the coming weeks.
Despite the cancellation of its season and regional tour, we still look forward to presenting our 2020 Education Show SLAP. BANG. KISS. with a live-stream of the show currently scheduled to take place in September including no-cost, online pre-show talks. In addition we also hope to remount a live season of the show in the Lawler Studio in 2021.
On behalf of everyone at MTC, and all our Education beneficiaries, thank you to our donors for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing the progress and successes of MTC Education this year as we innovate and reimagine our program offerings to best support our students and young people in their learning and development, and continue to provide inspiring and nurturing theatre experiences, in a time when one could argue it is needed most.
