Melbourne Theatre Company’s vision for reconciliation is an Australia that champions and celebrates First Nations communities’ representation and self-determination – taking pride in the world’s oldest continuous living culture, and building stronger relationships that are free of racism, and based on trust and respect.

For our Company, this means sharing First Nations-led stories on our stages, created in a culturally safe and inclusive workplace, for a diverse audience. We believe that part of our role as a major performing arts company is to partner with the First Nations community to ensure their stories are told, heard and celebrated.

Consultation about the establishment of a giving circle in support of maximising Melbourne Theatre Company’s work with First Nations artists and communities has included: Melbourne Theatre Company’s internal RAP Committee and First Nations staff members, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, Boon Wurrung Land & Sea Council (in progress), Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development, First Nations artists working with the Company.
