For the past few years, Melbourne Theatre Company has been inspiring a passion for theatre in young audiences with an annual family production. In 2013, we presented The Book of Everything, a touching, funny story of growing up in post-war Holland, and followed that up in 2014 with Big Bad Wolf, a magical tale of friendship. And last year, audiences loved our extra-terrestrial adventure The Boy at the Edge of Everything. So we can’t wait until June, when we stage Angela Betzien’s new play Egg, an eco-adventure for all ages, merging puckish pranking and the wondrous skills of Terrapin Puppet Theatre.

MTC is committed to transporting children and parents into new worlds of imagination and intrigue, enriching lives, developing young imaginations and provoking family discussion.

But sadly the future of MTC’s family production is under threat. MTC will no longer be able to support this wonderful initiative without private funding.

To ensure the life of Egg and future family productions like it, MTC has been awarded a $50,000 Plus1 matched-funding grant from Creative Partnerships Australia. To obtain this crucial funding MTC must raise $50,000 by May 2016 and it will be matched dollar- for-dollar by Creative Partnerships.

MTC is inviting visionary supporters to join the newly created MTC Family Production Giving Circle to play an active role in transforming young lives through theatre. As a contributor to this special Giving Circle, you will be personally connected to the creation of high quality, family entertainment, with opportunities to take your children or grandchildren behind the scenes to meet the cast and creative team, attend Opening Night, and get together with other contributors who share your interest in this life-enriching cause.
