Melbourne Theatre Company has evolved as a company enormously over the past 60 years, however our commitment to researching, designing, constructing and creating the finest quality costumes, sets, and props for stage has remained a constant.
Donations to MTC support the innovate work of our Production and Wardrobe Departments in more ways than one; the combined brilliance of which is particularly evident in large-scale, costume-rich productions like Born Yesterday – our first show of 2017.
MTC Wardrobe Manager Judy Bunn said it was easy to see how the generosity of MTC Donors had a positive impact on the quality and detail of MTC productions.
‘Donors who visit MTC’s Wardrobe Department are amazed by the level of absolute detail with which we approach the sourcing and construction of our garments.
‘For period productions like Born Yesterday, the level of detail is even more meticulous, often requiring us to source specialty shoes, underwear, buttons and fabrics from international suppliers.
‘Thanks to philanthropic support MTC receives, the Wardrobe Department is able to realise the Costume Designer’s vision of creating true authenticity on our stages.’
Born Yesterday Costume and Set designer Dale Ferguson has led MTC wardrobe and production crews – in extraneous detail – to perfect an era of post-war fashion that will be remembered for years to come.
On behalf of everyone on and off stage, a heartfelt thank you to our family of MTC Donors, whose generous contributions ensure that MTC can realise a full Season of compelling and inspiring theatre year after year.
