Finalist 2025
Australian Theatre Festival
New Play Award
‘[Lewis] proves herself exceptional here.’
ABOUT THE SHOW
A Blak and downright badass crime caper.
Cassie is a Kalkadoon forensic investigator drawn into a case that keeps edging closer to home, thanks to a bum bag full of stolen diamonds. Jordan is a Noongar DJ navigating loyalty and family secrets. Together, the unlikely new friends are on a mission to uncover long-buried truths – all while outrunning a bikie boyfriend and a mysterious man in a suit.
Written and directed by Abbie-lee Lewis (Saplings), and starring Logie Award winner Lila McGuire (Goolagong) and Ruby Henaway (The Sapphires), this playful and moving world premiere inspired by the infamous Argyle diamond mine heist in the late 1980s was a finalist for the Australian Theatre Festival’s New Play Award in New York. Zippy dialogue, a pulsing 90s score and the ingenious use of video drive the journey from Perth to the Kimberley in this one-of-a-kind comedy from a promising talent.
A co-production with Belvoir St Theatre
Presented in association with: Yirra Yaakin and RISING
Developed through Belvoir with support from The Balnaves Foundation and Oranges & Sardines Foundation and Melbourne Theatre Company’s NEXT STAGE Writers’ Program.
