‘Jacky is something incredibly special … book a ticket before you miss out.’
‘Equal parts funny, enlightening and disturbing.’
ABOUT THE SHOW
Jacky is a smart, enterprising young blackfella in the big city. He skilfully negotiates the gig economy, skipping neatly from office internships to cultural performances to sex work. When Jacky’s unemployable little brother Keith rolls into town, Jacky’s carefully compartmentalised lives are thrown onto a collision course.
This world premiere from Aboriginal playwright Declan Furber Gillick and director Mark Wilson – whose previous collaboration is the multi-award winning Bighouse Dreaming – stars Guy Simon (Jasper Jones) in the title role alongside Ngali Shaw (The Twelve), Greg Stone (A Doll’s House, Part 2) and Alison Whyte (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).
Jacky is a sharp, quick-witted play about family, community, work and culture that examines the personal costs of navigating it all in contemporary Australia.
