Wednesday 16 September 2020, 11am

A performance of Dan Giovannoni's gripping new work, live streamed from Southbank Theatre exclusively for Victorian secondary schools.

This live streamed performance will run for approximately 75 minutes followed by a 25 minute Q&A

Due to Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, the live stream of SLAP. BANG. KISS. has been postponed. More information will be available soon.

SLAP. A video of 16-year-old Immi hitting a security officer goes viral. BANG. Sofia’s impassioned speech for the victims of a school shooting makes international news. KISS. In the car park of a Wangaratta Woolies, people rally around Darby and Daniel as the boys lock lips in an attempt to set the world record for the longest kiss.

Can young people really change the world? Multi-award-winning playwright and MTC Writer in Residence Dan Giovannoni knows they can. In SLAP. BANG. KISS. he tracks three young people whose stories kick-start a series of events none of them could have anticipated, transforming them into global symbols of revolution. But when their stories go viral and the whole world is watching, what will they do next?

Director Prue Clark (The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You) delivers a bold production exploring themes of activism, community and hope for MTC’s acclaimed Families and Education Program.

Free Education Packs will be available to download here in late August.

SLAP. BANG. KISS. was commissioned through MTC’s NEXT STAGE Writers’ Program with the support of our Playwrights Giving Circle Donors, The Ian Potter Foundation, Naomi Milgrom Foundation, The Myer Foundation, Malcolm Robertson Foundation and The University of Melbourne.

This special live stream event is made possible by the Besen Family Foundation and the Gailey Lazarus Foundation.
