Years later, the boy he loved returns to the grove, forcing the family to unearth the truth buried beneath the soil. Traversing timelines and countries, La Malattia is a sexy and evocative Italian-Australian odyssey of queer love and forgiveness.

Danny is a queer, Italian-Australian playwright and actor of Sicilian and Abruzzese heritage. His debut play, The Italians, premiered to a sold-out, critically acclaimed season at Belvoir 25a where it was filmed by Australian Theatre Live and published by Playlab. He won the ATYP Foundation Commission Award for his play Scab, which went on to be nominated for Best Production for Young People at the 2024 Sydney Theatre Awards. La Malattia was originally developed through APT and recently won the New Play Award at the Australian Theatre Festival NYC. Danny is attached to Sydney Theatre Company through the Watershed: Writers program. Some of his recent acting credits include Troy (Malthouse), The Glass Menagerie (Ensemble) and Holding the Man (Belvoir). In 2024 he won a Green Room Award for Loaded (Malthouse) and a Rising Star award from the Casting Guild of Australia. Later this year, he will be performing in the STC/STCSA co-production of Housework.
