Award-winning playwright Patricia Cornelius will talk about how to get away with writing about the most bleak, the most devastating, and the most powerful of theatrical worlds. How can you rattle an audience, disturb them, upset the status quo, and yet keep them riveted in their seats?

This workshop will involve some practical writing exercises concentrating on dialogue – please bring a pen and paper.

Some interest in live theatre and/or writing experience recommended.

Patricia Cornelius

Patricia Cornelius is a founding member of Melbourne Workers Theatre. She’s a playwright, novelist and film writer. She’s a recipient of many awards and her plays have earned her many Australian Writers Guild awards. She’s the recipient of the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize. She is a champion of independent theatre and was awarded the Green Room Life Time Achievement award. She’s written over 35 plays including: My Sister Jill, In the Club, Shit, Savages, Do not go gentle…, Love and The Call.
