An electric story of brotherhood and consequence, Cocaine Bust explodes the intersections of race, crime, and masculinity within the Asian diaspora while bringing Melbourne’s Western Suburbs vividly to life on stage.

Vivian Nguyen

Writer

Vivian Nguyen is an acclaimed Asian Australian multidisciplinary artist working across writing, acting, and producing. She has collaborated with Malthouse Theatre, Footscray Community Arts Centre, The Wheeler Centre, and Australian Theatre for Young People.

Her accolades include an AWGIE Award for Best Short Film for 'Asian Male Lead' (co-writer), The Wheeler Centre's Hot Desk Fellowship for Playwriting, a Patrick White Playwrights Award shortlist for 'Thin Threads', and a Bruntwood Prize longlist for 'Cocaine Bust'.

Her recent play ‘werkaholics’ premiered to a sold-out run at Belvoir's downstairs theatre as part of their 25A program, earning high praise and subsequent publication with Australian Plays Transform.
