Kundalini - The Awakening is a visionary dance and music production inspired by the profound spiritual science of Tantra. Tantra is a sacred practice (Sadhana) developed to help seekers attain both worldly and spiritual goals, ultimately guiding them toward self-realisation and enlightenment. At its heart, Tantra teaches that the microcosm of the human body reflects the vastness of the universe, and that expanding individual consciousness into universal consciousness is the path to true awakening.
Central to this philosophy is the concept of Kundalini, the dormant feminine energy (Shakti) believed to reside at the base of the spine, coiled like a serpent in the Muladhara chakra. Through Tantric practices such as Kundalini Yoga and meditation, this latent energy is gradually awakened and guided through the chakras, or energy centres, along the spine. As Kundalini rises, it purifies and energises each chakra, ultimately merging with Shiva, the pure consciousness, at the crown of the head - symbolising the union of body and spirit, the feminine and masculine, the finite and the infinite.
Bringing this esoteric journey to life, Kundalini - The Awakening features extraordinary music compositions and choreographies by master artists of Odissi, the ancient Indian classical dance form that originated over 2,000 years ago in Odisha. The performance is a seamless fusion of spirituality and art, transporting audiences to ethereal realms and offering a glimpse into the vast, untapped inner universe that lies within each of us. It is an invitation to explore the path of awakening - and to witness the rising of Shakti as she ascends toward divine union.
