From time to time, standing room tickets are available to performances at Southbank Theatre. If available, this option will be mentioned on the appropriate production’s web page.
The Standing Room section in The Sumner is a space against the back wall of the auditorium with an angled, cushioned bench (much like those on a tram), for guests to lean upon. A limited number of spaces are available, and will generally be released for sale only once all other tickets to a performance have been allocated.
Guests who purchase tickets for this section acknowledge that they will be required to stand for the duration of the performance, and are not permitted to occupy the seated section even if a seat becomes available.
From time to time, MTC makes tickets available to Halftix at Melbourne Town Hall. Visit halftixmelbourne.com for details.
On Tuesdays, from 11am to 4pm, MTC will release tickets to the next seven days’ performances for only $25 for theatre lovers with a valid concession card.
People holding a valid concession card (Government Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, full time student ID or MEAA membership) can purchase these tickets for $25 in-person at the Southbank Theatre Box Office or online at mtc.com.au using the promo code SEATSAVERS.
To give as many people as possible the chance to secure a ticket, each person placing an order is limited to a maximum of two tickets on a single date per production on offer for that week. These seats sometimes have a restricted or angled view of the stage.
The tickets can be collected 45 minutes before your performance, with one concession ID per ticket required for collection. If a valid ID is not produced, an upgrade fee to the appropriate price will need to be paid. Photocopies of concession cards can be used, provided the expiry date is clearly visible. Please note concession numbers are not sufficient proof of concession status.
Performances exclude Opening Nights and Special Events and tickets are subject to availability. Booking fees do not apply. Purchases cannot be made over the phone. Please note, Seniors Cards are not a valid concession for this program.
