We provide tickets at a range of price points and offer discounts for target groups, in line with our Pledge.
TICKET PRICES
Our ticket prices depend on a variety of factors including:
- the time of day and day of the week of the performance
- the area of seating in the auditorium
- your age and/or concession status
Ticket prices may fluctuate due to demand. We reserve the right to alter prices without notice. Changes are made in accordance with Live Performance Australia’s Ticketing Code of Practice.
To view the latest prices for the performance you are interested in, visit the relevant production page, click on the date you wish to attend and the seats you are interested in purchasing, and pricing variations will appear.
Please note: a booking fee of up to $7.95 per order applies for online bookings and $8.95 for phone bookings.

$35 WEEKEND RUSH
With Weekend Rush you can experience our world-class live theatre on Fridays and Saturdays for just $35 per ticket. We won’t even charge you a booking fee.
Every Thursday from 12 – 4pm you can book Weekend Rush tickets for Friday and Saturday performances that same week. But get in quick, at just $35 per ticket they won't last.
Weekend Rush tickets are subject to availability and limited to four tickets per booking. Available for select performances only, excluding Opening Nights. Standard terms and conditions apply.
UNDER 30s
Upon presentation of a valid photo ID, anyone aged 29 and under can purchase A-Reserve or B-Reserve tickets to mainstage productions at a discount of 50% compared to the adult ticket price. Prices may vary according to production. Concessions are not available for Premium seats.
Under 30s also save 50% on subscription packages, compared to full priced subscription packages.
Concessions are not available for Opening Nights.
BLAKTIX
Blaktix are discount tickets available for people who identify as being of First Nations descent, supporting our commitment to equity and access. Blaktix are available online: simply look for the Blaktix price when selecting your seats.
By not selecting this option if you are not of First Nations descent, you support our ability to continue offering such accessible options.
Blaktix are subject to availability and may not be available for all performances. Blaktix are not available in conjunction with any other offer, or as part of a subscription booking.
No proof of eligibility is required and booking is at the discretion of the purchaser. Please note that by selecting Blaktix, this may indicate your Race or Ethnic Origin which is considered sensitive information (Privacy and Data Protection Act, 2014). This data is only used to provide a discount for First Nations people. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we store and protect your data.
We acknowledge Destiny Deacon (KuKu, Erub/Mer), artist, broadcaster and political activist, for provenance of the term "Blak".
Pensioner, Full-Time Students and Unemployed
Concession prices are available for Pensioners, Full-Time Students and the unemployed with a valid ID, for most Melbourne Theatre Company shows. Please note that you must show the appropriate Australian government-issued card in order to receive Concession pricing.
The above Concessions will also receive discounts on season packages.
$25 Seat Savers tickets are available for people holding a valid concession card (Government Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, full time student ID or MEAA membership).
COMPANION CARD HOLDERS
Melbourne Theatre Company accepts Companion Cards for all of our productions and all events presented at Southbank Theatre. Present your Companion Card when you are booking your ticket and you will be required to pay only for your own ticket, a second ticket will be issued for your companion at no charge. Tickets will be held at the Southbank Theatre Box Office and can be collected on presentation of the Companion Card and any other relevant ID.
SENIORS
Seniors discounts are only available for Wednesday matinee performances. Seniors may also use their card to purchase a rush ticket when available at the box office two hours prior to the production start time.
GROUP BOOKINGS
Group single ticket prices are available for a minimum of 8 people attending the same performance, for most Melbourne Theatre Company shows. The group price is a discount on adult rate tickets and is applicable in all price reserves excluding Premium.
Group subscription prices are available for a minimum of 10 people attending the same performances for each production. The group price is a discount on the adult subscription rate. Concession holders can be included in a group subscription at their applicable concession price (eg. Pensioner, Youth), and the remaining attendees within the group of 10+ will receive the group subscription price. Group subscriptions may be purchased by mail booking form only (not available online).
$25 SEAT SAVERS
On Tuesdays from 11am to 4pm we release tickets to the next seven days’ performances for only $25, for theatre lovers with a valid concession card.
To give as many people as possible the chance to secure a ticket, each person placing an order is limited to a maximum of two tickets on a single date per production on offer for that week. These seats sometimes have a restricted or angled view of the stage.
People holding a valid concession card (Government Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, full time student ID or MEAA membership) can purchase Seat Savers tickets here.
The tickets can be collected 45 minutes before your performance, with one concession ID per ticket required for collection. If a valid ID is not produced, an upgrade fee to the appropriate price will need to be paid. Photocopies of concession cards can be used, provided the expiry date is clearly visible. Please note concession numbers are not sufficient proof of concession status.
Performances exclude Opening Nights and Special Events and tickets are subject to availability. Booking fees do not apply. Purchases cannot be made over the phone. Please note, Seniors Cards are not a valid concession for this program.
PRICE RESERVES
Price reserves are determined by Melbourne Theatre Company uniquely for each production based on the set design, venue that the production is being staged and positions of the actors/props.
The below is a guide only to give you an indication of what the different view in each price reserve may be. Not all productions will have all the below zones and some productions may have other promotional zones not listed below.
Premium: Full and unobstructed view of all elements of the production.
A Reserve: Full view of the stage and all key elements of the production which are essential to the plot.
B Reserve: Full view of the front centre of the stage which is where the majority of the production is performed.
C Reserve: The angle and/or set may obstruct view of some elements of the show which are not essential to the plot. Detail and facial expressions may be impeded.
Restricted View: View of the stage is obstructed and may obstruct elements essential to the plot.
RUSH TICKETS
Melbourne Theatre Company offers a concession rush to most mainstage productions. When available they can be purchased from the relevant theatre box office two hours prior to each performance to pensioners, seniors, unemployed people, full-time students, and members of MEAA, Australian Writers Guild, Australian Directors Guild, Playworks and the National Playwrights Centre. These tickets are available only in certain reserves and are chosen from the best available at the time of purchase. You will need to provide appropriate identification. Some Premium productions will not have a Concession Rush, please phone the box office on 8688 0800 to check if rush tickets are available for your chosen production.
STANDING ROOM
From time to time, standing room tickets are available to performances at Southbank Theatre. If available, this option will be mentioned on the appropriate production’s web page.
The Standing Room section in The Sumner is a space against the back wall of the auditorium with an angled, cushioned bench (much like those on a tram), for guests to lean upon. A limited number of spaces are available, and will generally be released for sale only once all other tickets to a performance have been allocated.
Guests who purchase tickets for this section acknowledge that they will be required to stand for the duration of the performance, and are not permitted to occupy the seated section even if a seat becomes available.
TODAYTIX
Tickets for Melbourne Theatre Company productions at Southbank Theatre may be available through the ticket sales platform TodayTix. Tickets sold via TodayTix are usually full price, however from time to time, a discounted rate might be available via this platform.
Please note transaction fees may vary between Melbourne Theatre Company and TodayTix. Any transaction enquiries should be directed to TodayTix as the point of sale.
HALFTIX
From time to time, Melbourne Theatre Company makes tickets available to Halftix at Melbourne Town Hall. Visit halftixmelbourne.com for details.

For theatre industry professionals
Practising theatre industry professionals can apply for our Industry Pass, providing access to an exclusive $29 ticket to mainstage productions in Season 2023.
For actors
Rush-priced Adult A-reserve tickets are available to actors holding a valid MEAA Actors Equity card for selected productions. Tickets can be booked in advance either over the phone by calling 03 8688 0800, or in person at the Southbank Theatre Box Office. A limit of one ticket per member per production applies.
Actors must present their MEAA Actors Equity card at the box office on collection of tickets.
For members of Arts Access Victoria
Members of Arts Access Victoria receive concession priced tickets and subscriptions to Melbourne Theatre Company shows. Proof of membership must be provided at the time of booking.
