ABOUT THE SHOW

Tom meets Charlotte in a bar. Tom’s a foreigner on his first trip to Berlin. Charlotte’s a beguiling bartender. They’re both young, smart and charismatic – and in the early hours, they end up back at Charlotte’s Prenzlauerberg apartment. Over the course of the night, desire and longing dance hand in hand with devastating secrets. Are they just two young people falling in love, or are they contemporary victims of history’s undiluted reach?

Joanna Murray-Smith is one of Australia’s most celebrated playwrights, captivating audiences from Melbourne to Broadway and the West End. In this riveting new commission for MTC, Murray-Smith creates a world of passion and intrigue where the long shadow of history reaches out to ask what it really means to forgive the past.

Revered director Iain Sinclair, whose 2019 MTC production of A View from the Bridge received a chorus of critical acclaim, will again take us to the edge of our seats for this spine-tingling romantic thriller starring Grace Cummings (Prehistoric).
