Applications Open for MTC's Women in Theatre Program

Melbourne Theatre Company is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its 2017 Women in Theatre Program.

MTC’s Women in Theatre Program is designed to adapt to and support the evolving needs of the sector, building on the success of previous iterations of the program and providing opportunities for emerging and mid-career practitioners across various disciplines.

In 2017 there will be 12 mentoring opportunities and the disciplines represented in the program are: producing; directing; playwriting; dramaturgy; lighting design; sound design and composition; set and costume design; production management; production – other (e.g. technical management, venue operations, scenic art, workshop); and positions for an artistic director and general manager/executive director of an independent or small organisation.

Successful applicants will have the chance to familiarise themselves with the inner workings of a major state theatre company and gain insight into its audiences, venues and ongoing core business over a 12-month period, while also receiving one-on-one mentoring from a respected practitioner in their chosen field.

The program will cover leadership training, practical career advice and coaching across a wide range of business and commercial aspects of the theatre industry, while also offering open access to all facets of the Company.

MTC Artistic Director Brett Sheehy said, ‘Our Women in Theatre Program is an invaluable development opportunity for theatre professionals and just one example of the many meaningful ways MTC supports our industry. I encourage all those interested to apply and I look forward to getting to know and working with the 12 successful applicants throughout the year ahead.’

Applications close Monday 31 October 2016 at 5pm.
