Front of House Supervisor

(Full time, 12-month contract with potential for extension)

Melbourne Theatre Company is seeking a dedicated, people-focused Front of House Supervisor to help deliver a welcoming, safe and exceptional experience for audiences and visitors at Southbank Theatre. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a live performance environment, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in high-quality customer service and venue operations.

Reporting to the Head of Customer Experience, you will lead and support a large casual Front of House team, overseeing recruitment, training, rostering and day-to-day operations. You’ll play a hands-on role on the floor as a House Supervisor, while also managing systems, procedures and communication to ensure performances and events run smoothly.

Working closely with Box Office, Production, Building Services, Events and external partners, you will help coordinate Front of House operations across MTC productions, commercial events and venue hires. You’ll bring a calm, organised approach to problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, and the confidence to manage customer feedback, staff wellbeing and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll have demonstrated experience in a complex customer service or venue environment, strong leadership and organisational skills, and a genuine interest in theatre and live performance. Experience in Front of House or venue operations will be highly regarded.

If you enjoy leading people, creating positive audience experiences and contributing to the work of Australia’s leading theatre company, we would love to hear from you.
