A spectacle of illumination and shape designed for night viewing, the MTC Theatre is a work of art for the performing arts. The complex houses the Sumner Theatre, a state-of-the-art 500-seat venue, and the flexible Lawler Studio for new and developing work.

Tickets: The MTC Theatre Box Office is available for bookings, exchanges and all your ticketing queries Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm and immediately prior to all scheduled performances.

Dining and refreshments: Opening two hours prior to performances, the MTC Theatre Foyer Bars offer a showcase of local wine and beer brewers and a broad selection of Victorian food and confectionary. The MTC Theatre is also home to its own cafe Script Bar & Bistro, which offers pre-show dinners and post show drinks.


Getting to the MTC Theatre

The MTC Theatre is located at 140 Southbank Blvd, Southbank. It is just a stone’s throw away from the Melbourne Recital Centre, the Arts Centre, the NGV and Federation Square. Coming down Southbank Boulevard from St Kilda Road, the building with its distinctive white piping cannot be missed.

Rail: The theatre is a ten minute walk from Flinders Street Station.

Tram: For routes travelling up and down St Kilda Road (numbers 1, 2, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67, 72) you can get off at the Arts Centre stop and walk to all theatres. Route 1 to South Melbourne Beach goes down Southbank Boulevard, right past the MTC Theatre

Parking: Street parking is very limited near the theatres. Fortunately there are many secure car parks that are within walking distance of the Theatre. More information.
