On the Production of Monsters

by Robert Reid
  • 'Watson's production is the sachet of sugar helping the macchiato go down - in the most delightful way'  - The Australian
'Gay and Saunders provide exceptional performances'  - Herald Sun

Partners Ben and Shari are your typical inner-city Melbourne hipsters: promoting vegetarianism, playing barefoot bowls and engaging in passionate debates about coffee. But no amount of good coffee can prepare them for when an innocent interview with a local newspaper propels them into a national scandal.

Are we a well-informed nation, or just slaves to the media monster? Actors Virginia Gay and James Saunders play nine characters in On the Production of Monsters, where Melbourne playwright Robert Reid explores our susceptibility to media sensationalism with characteristic wit and humour.
