joy of text

Louise Siverson in MTC's production of The Joy of Text (2011),

In 2012 we are as committed as ever to providing young people with authentic experiences of live performance. MTC Education will present two full productions for secondary students, in the intimate Lawler Studio at the MTC Theatre.

Following a sell-out season in Brisbane, Boy Girl Wall by The Escapists comes to Melbourne. In this quirky, fast-paced one-man show, Helpmann Award nominee, Lucas Stibbard plays countless characters, both animate and inanimate to create a charming story in an original world. Later in the year, dark suburban satire, Helicopter, takes to the stage. An MTC commission by Angela Betzien, Helicopter tells the story of the relationship that forms between an affluent Australian family and their neighbour, a refugee from war torn Southern Sudan.

Our performance workshops and pre-show talks will offer guidance for VCE students facing their SACs and end-of-year written and performance exams and the MTC Ambassadors Program will offer a select group of Year 11 students the chance to extend their knowledge and passion for theatre.
