    3. How do I book an MTC Education event?

Bookings must be made in writing by mail, fax or e-mail. Session availability may be checked by contacting MTC Bookings on 03 8688 0963. MTC advises you not to over-book.

    4. How do I know when my booking has been processed?

MTC will issue an invoice upon receipt of written booking requests. Bookings are processed in the order that they are received.

    5. is it possible to change or cancel my booking after an invoice has been issued?

Once an invoice has been issued, bookings are confirmed and subject to MTC Education Terms and Conditions. Any cancellations or changes to confirmed bookings must be in writing and no later than four weeks prior to the performance or event. Charges will apply if cancellations are received after this point.

    6. What are my payment options?

Final payment is due by the date indicated on the MTC tax invoice, which is usually four weeks prior to the event, unless the booking has been received after that time. Payments will be accepted by Credit Card or Cheque.

No tickets are issued without payment. If payment is not received in time for tickets to be forwarded to you via post, you may be charged a courier fee to have your tickets sent to the theatre venue. All those attending events must hold the correct ticket and will be expected to present it before being admitted.

    7. Is GST included in the advertised cost?

GST is included in prices where applicable and stated on MTC tax invoices. MTC Education event prices include GST but school group bookings for MTC Mainstage productions do not attract GST. MTC’s ABN is 283 0235 9029.

    8. Will I be notified if changes are made to the advertised program?

The MTC Education Program is subject to change. Melbourne Theatre Company reserves the right to add, withdraw and substitute artists, and vary the program should the need arise. Schools directly affected by any programming changes will be notified.

    9. what Do I need to do to prepare my students for their FIRST visit to the theatre?

Please brief students on theatre etiquette before attending performances. Guidelines will be sent with your tax invoice. The Theatre Notes blog by Alison Croggon also provides a good list of general rules to follow for appropriate behaviour in the theatre.

    10. What are my SUPERVISION responsibilities at the theatre?

Secondary school teachers must accompany, supervise and take responsibility for their students' behaviour at all times. One teacher or supervising adult is required for each group of ten secondary school students. For this purpose, a complimentary ticket is provided for every ten student tickets sold.

    11. How do I join the MTC Education mailing list?

To join the education mailing list, or subscribe to Education E-news, click here. If you wish to removed from MTC's Education mailing list, please contact the Education Manager at education@mtc.com.au

    12. Are there any discounted or free tickets available for disadvantaged students?

Thanks to a generous donation from The Sidney Myer Fund on behalf of one of MTC's supporters, Mr Geoffrey Cohen AM, we are able to provide a limited number of free Season 2012 or Education event tickets. These tickets will be allocated to schools for distribution to students who would otherwise not be able to attend an MTC event for reasons of economic disadvantage.

If your school has students in this situation and you would like to register for consideration in 2012, please e-mail Suzie Thomas at education@mtc.com.au with the relevant details, or fax on 03 8688 0901. MTC will select the school groups based on the information you provide to us. E-mails and faxes of around 250 words are sufficient.

As a guideline, around thirty tickets will be offered per school to attend one performance or workshop. Your school selects the students to attend the event, accompanied by supervising teachers at the required ratio, one teacher for every ten students. The allocation of free tickets may form part of a larger booking for your school, which can be used to lower the overall cost per ticket for the whole group, or for individual tickets as you deem to be appropriate.
