The Light In Winter – Solstice Celebration
Celebrations for Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year – abound this Saturday at Federation Square. Enjoy dance and music styles from around the world, sit by the campfire and hear songs and stories from Indigenous performers young and old, and join the radiant line with Square of Light performers leading a procession of handheld lights around Asif Khan’s installation.

Spanning three hundred years of Italian art, from the early sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, NGV’s Italian Masterpieces from the Museo del Prado, Madrid, are unique and unrivalled. And this Saturday at 2pm, John Weretka from the University of Melbourne presents a special talk, ‘The Forgotten Baroque: Italian painting in the Eighteenth Century’.
